There is a great article in Good Magazine about how traditional media organizations are attempting to counter as well as circumvent the influence of new media. The article also covers the influence blogs and how new media outlets are helping in the growth of grassroots journalism and I would truly recommend you head over to Barnes & Noble and grab a copy.

Here is the video stream of the variety show that I worked alongside with Aarron, Anil, JP, Meredith and Seth. The variety show was shot with myself as the host and was completely made on the fly. It was truly fun working with everyone and I hope to do it again soon.

In reviewing various streaming sites, from the most popular to the most obscure, it seems to the only form of interaction was present in almost a good portion of them was one of a voyeuristic quality. True while there is several sites that use video streaming for educational purposes, most of the other is usually geared towards displaying and helping people satisfy their voyeuristic curiosity. What kind of interaction does this truly create is a questions I asked myself, is this nothing more then just the act of viewing and maybe in some cases having some control of the events you view, but it is truly at its core nothing more then viewing a pre-recorded video file.

What interests me is that the use of streaming videos is being adapted very quickly by traditional media outlets so that they are turning the very active internet experience into a passive experience therefore preserving the old media attributes within a new delivery form. So there needs to be a form of interaction, one that has a deeper, richer, and personal connection then the ones that are being explored in the current streaming world.

The overall concept of the article deals with the influence and impact that technology has had on the election system. This influence and impact is reviewed in the following areas, how information is shared from politicians and organizations to voters, how money is raised, how technology in the form of the internet has allowed for greater participation and discussion or voters to have their opinions shared with the larger part of society.

The article also discussed some of the shortcoming of using the Internet as well and I found it be quite interesting to read but it did not answer the fundamental question of how technology can truly transform the government to becoming more transparent and responsive to its citizens and not a plaything for the special interest groups, especially under this Bush Administration.

Rob and I did a fake interview show in which I was interviewing him about the challenges of a being a hip hop producer of Korean decent without any street creditability and how that has effected him and his work. The best part would be the live on-air commercials by Anil, especially the one for Magnum condoms.
