Final Project Outline
Final Project:
Motivation:
I took the M5 bus around Manhattan last month for Red Burn’s class and I observed some interesting things that I thought I could apply to this final project. In my observation trip around Manhattan I saw many reflections coming off of the buildings that were made with shiny exteriors. Many buildings had glass façades and large windows with tinting on them that would reflect sunlight and images from other nearby buildings and such. They were almost like mirrors reflecting images of everything that was near it. It was reflecting Manhattan in the ways of images, sounds, and colors. My motivation for this project is to make an interactive device that will show colors and sound according to human interaction with it.
The project:
Introduction:
I have decided to make a musical instrument in the likes of a piano with more artistic projection and interaction. By using 8 standard notes, do, re, mi, pa, sol, ra, ci, do, and by the use of MIDI, Processing, and Arduino, an 8 sided spherical object will show color and sound when it is touched.
Device:
Input:
Touch: by the use of analog touch sensor
Output:
Sound: in the range of 8 notes (do,re,mi,pa,sol,ra,ci,do)
Color: coordinated light with musical note played
Demonstration:
Will play a short song: (touch interaction projecting light and sound)
