Pcom week12 - final project phase 1
Pcom week12 Phase 1 (final project)

- The title of my project is called “The Musical Octagon.” It is a musical instrument that can be played without touching it.
- To make my Octagon, I first started by drawing a diagram of the design I chose (octagon). I first drew it on a piece of paper and from there I put my ideas and drawings onto the computer to make the measurements for my template. Then I printed out the template and decided to choose the material that would be good for this type of design.
- As you can see I decided to use a metal outer material. I used a thin aluminum board that was cut out to the shape of my diagram and with a little help from a sign making company, I was able to use the tools in their shop to bend and cut out my metal template into the octagon shaped dome you see here.
- For the windows of the octagon I used a translucent plastic material and I used some glue and long hours to turn my metal template into the shell of my musical instrument. I also painted it silver to cover the scratches on my octagon sphere.
- This was the first phase of my project.
