Prototype of Game "Feeding Monkey"

Be a zookeeper! Feed monkeys with bananas. But becareful, if monkeys have fungus, you'll lose your point!

The prototype is incomplete. I made two version, one is origined from "Slinger", but checking collision didn't work. I thought maybe that's because the hitArea is not defined. So I made another version that check collision by position of the instances but didn't work either!

So the nex steps for this is to figure out how to check collision and send the result to point display.

Further Use of Streaming Media

The best features of streaming media are eliminating time delay and transmitting on internet. In other word, streaming attracts diffrent people in different place to receive the same content at the same time. Combine with massage transmitting function of internet , I think streaming media can be much more than just another copy of TV.

I remember when world cup held in 2006, several of my friends sent me messages about the games and players on MSN while watching world cup games on television. And I think a lot of people like to discuss the plots of TV drama while watching TV. So, if online chatting can be combined with streaming media, it will be like bring people who actually live thousand miles away sitting in the same living room for a TV show or a baseball game. People can talk with the people who have the same interests with them and share info on that.

And combining live news broadcast and instant message, instant message can help people to judge if the news is credible, because audience from different place can provide their views and knowledge on some subjects.

Another way to use instant message online with streaming media is language translating. Eventhough internet bring the TV shows crossing the border of countries, language barrier is still an obstacle for people from different place to receive the same content without time delay. Take Japanese drama, which is very popular among audience in asia, as an example, tv dramas were sold to TV companies in other country after 3 to 6 months from debut. But the prevailing of internet speeds up the processing, some people in Japan record the show and people who can translate it put on the translated title for it. After a day of a drama debut in Japan, people in China can download it and watch it without language barrier to understand it. However, their still one day delay between Japan and China audience. Applying streaming technique and instant message on this, put translated titles on instant message, then people in different country can understand it at the same time. Much more, they don't have to download and store them in their computer.

Streaming TV Software—TvAnts

Streaming TV has been an very important infromation and entertainment sources in my daily life after I got in New York. The streaming media now I am going to talk about is not a single media or website, but a software.

TvAnts is a free and small software that contains hundreds of streaming TV channels around the world, from Asia to Europe and to America. You can view it as a TV set on your computer. You just need to choose the channel you want and double click it, then it will open a new browser as TV screen and deliver you the live media.

Just like "BitTorrent", TvAnts adapted peer-assited concept to build the media delivering system. All the channels listed on it are provided voluntarily by clients around the world. When you opening a certain, you will not only be a receiver but also a part of providers.

However, there are two major problems of this software. One is based on "BitTorrent" technique that there will be lags for about ten minutes for smooth coming images after opening a new channel. Another problem is that the list of channels changes all the time, because all the channels are provided freely by clients.

If you are interested in this software, download it from its website.

Next Step: Touch Screen Cell Phone

No longer after Apple's iphone said Hello to everyone, Samsung steped forward with its super bebe—Ultra Smart F700.

Major Features of Ultra Smart F700:
    ˙Camera: 5 megapixel with autofocus
    ˙QWERTY Keyborad inside
    ˙Ultra Thin: 16.4mm
    ˙Drag and drop touch screen
    ˙Full HTML browser
    ˙7.2 Mbps HSDPA

I haven't seen any video about how people use this cellphone. However,
compared to iphone, I prefer ultra Smart F700 for its size and pixels of camera (...but image quality of Samsung camera is quite unstable).  No metter what, it's good to see an elegant iphone competitor coming out so fast.
