Lamp Design Pt 2: Fabrication
Ever thought about making a lamp? This speed run lamp design session will cover the basics from light source, and control mechanism, to enclosure and lamp shade design. You will learn about:
- Arduino Basics
- LED types
- Simple LED control circuitry
- How to slice your model for 3D printing
- How to laser cut acrylic/cardboard with Illustrator Files
- Basic Concepts of CNC machine
For 3D printing and laser cutting, shop training is MANDATORY to operate the machines. Please take one of the shop training sessions before attending this session
Attending this session DOES NOT mean you have learned to operate or have access to the CNC machine during the camp. CNC can be a complicated process and due to time limits, I will only be demonstrating the process for a basic understanding of CNC.
Please bring the following components if you have them already:
- BreadBoard + Jumperwire
- DC wall plug 12V (Shop/ER has limited supply)
- Arduino of any type + cable to PC (Shop has limited supply)
- Computer with Arduino IDE installed
- Sensors that you'd like to use for the input of your lamp (Shop/ER has limited supply)
- Anything you'd like to use for your lamp design
I will provide LED strips. Bring yours if you prefer!
In the 1st session, I will focus on Arduino Basics, LEDs, and circuitry.
In the 2nd session, we will go into the basement/shop for our fabrication workshop. It's strongly recommended to attend both sessions if possible.
