If you've ever wanted to make a NeoPixel project but didn't know where to start, this two-part workshop is for you.
We'll use NeoPixels, micro:bit, Microsoft Make Code, and LiPo batteries to create custom LED animations from scratch. This is a workshop version of my YouTube series
This week, I'll introduce you to the hardware and how to connect it properly. Then, we'll dive into Make Code and learn how to set up and address the NeoPixel LEDs with code. We'll have a chance to try out some simple animations and make our LEDs go blinky! Between sessions, you'll try your hand at designing an animation to show next week!
Next week, we'll have an animation show-and-tell and go further with making our animations interactive using the buttons on the micro:bit and connecting micro:bits using their built-in radio.
Materials * Bring a Laptop with internet access and a micro USB cable compatible with your computer. * I will have a few micro:bits to demo in class, but I highly recommend bringing your own if you can! Here's a list of what to buy
If you have any questions let me know! You can also join on Discord to connect with other makers.
I hope to see you there!
