Surprising play experiences can be created when toys connect to smart devices. It is challenging to do, considering that toys are simple plastic objects. But it can be done!
In the session, I'll show some ways that toys, and toy-like objects, can be sensed by and actuate a phone or tablet, through a combination of hardware and software.
For background, I lead R&D and Innovation for the toys inside of Kinder egg, at Ferrero.
Fyi this isn’t a hands-on workshop session. It’s a presentation of concepts/demos and discussion.
Topics • Leveraging onboard sensors as access points between physical objects and the digital world. • Hacks and exploitations of on-board sensors, for new human-computer interactions. • Generally how the toy industry is innovating on HCI for toys.
