In this session we'll look at three art projects that I developed and exhibited. Each one provides us with a means of exploring different ways in which artists work. We'll cover:
- A site-specific interactive installation aboard a ship sailing to Antarctica, commissioned for a Biennial.
- A series of 3D printed sculptures developed using motion capture for a grant-funded exhibition in a museum.
- A new 16mm film that uses light drawing to show industrial workers' movements, how this work developed from archival research and will become sculpture during an upcoming artist residency.
Looking through images and documentation, we'll discuss where these ideas came from, the research involved, how I raised funds in order to produce them, and how these works were exhibited.
We'll cover different resources and scenarios for art making including writing proposals, working with commissions, artist residencies, accessing archives, applying for grants, and dreaming big.
