Make Hydrophones and Contact Mics: Internal and Submerged Resonance

In this workshop, we will build contact microphones and hydrophones. With these tools, we can listen to the internal resonances of objects, and hear underwater.

We'll talk quickly about how these mics work and how the sounds you can capture differ from what we hear with our ears. Then we'll go over the construction process, including the simple amplifier circuit we'll need to build for the piezo. The rest of the workshop will be hands on construction.

You should be able to do basic soldering. Supplies will be provided. All are welcome to sit in and watch, but please RSVP only if you intend to make one. I will use the RSVP count to purchase supplies.
