This is a two part workshop. The first part is a discussion space to generate ideas and conversation around tools for memory keeping and community support. In part two we will come together to deepen or inquiry by investigating what it would take to create this tools and doing some casual making.
Genocide and forced displacement disrupt memory keeping and information sharing across generations. What tools did our ancestors engage in to preserve and share knowledge? What tools do I engage? How do I wish these tools were different? What tools do I wish I had? What emerging tools could assist us in gathering, preserving, and disseminating this information? How would I want these tools to live in the world?
Do you think you have control over what the future is like? Do you think the future will be worse or better? What responsibilities do I have to the future, if any? What tools did the people that came before me use to improve their circumstances? What tools do I have to improve things/mitigate damage? What tools can I make that are more in line with how I want the world to be?
