Make some maps with expensive sky cameras... for free!
This session is a general introduction to finding and using satellite + aerial imagery, including:
- Examples of creative projects using imagery
- Finding free images online, through Google Earth, ESA Sentinel 2, USDA NAIP, Microsoft and other catalogs
- Basics of raster file formats
- Differences between imagery types: raw RGB images, mosaics, aerial, and SAR
Important: The content of this session will primarily use QGIS, an open source program for working with geospatial data. You should install QGIS before the session: http://qgis.org/download/
Optional: GDAL/OGR command line tool https://gdal.org/en/stable/download.html
Optional: Python environment (with working pip install environment)
