Grab some food (snacks not a full meal!) and join us for a panel discussion with book authors from the ITP community.

Panel topic:

Many of us are makers, whether we create with physical materials or code. We document and share our processes through social media, blogs, articles, and tutorials.

But how — and why — do we capture these making processes in books?

In this panel discussion, we will expand our definition of “writing” to include all communication methods that we use in our books to invite others into the act of making.

Panelists:

Alanna Okun is the author of “The Curse of the Boyfriend Sweater: Essays on Crafting” (2018) and “Knit a Hat: A Beginner’s Guide to Knitting” (2020).

Daniel Shiffman is the author of “Learning Processing”, 1st (2008) and “Nature of Code” 1st (2012) and 2nd (2024) editions.

Kari Love is the co-author of “Make: Soft Robotics” (2019).

Kate Hartman is the author of “Make: Wearable Electronics” 1st (2014) and 2nd (2025) editions.

Tom Igoe is the co-author of “Physical Computing” (2004) and author of “Making Things Talk” 1st (2007), 2nd (2011), and 3rd (2017) editions, “Getting Started with RFID” (2011), and “Beginning NFC” (2014).
