You’re making some cool hardware thing! But does it have a home? Need to protect it? Give it some character? 



In this session…

First half I’ll cover the principles of industrial design and some tricks I’ve picked up in my experience in working with prototyping hardware. We’ll look at inspiration, some hands-on examples, and talk through the materials and processes available at ITP (3d Printing, Laser, Services, Hacking/reuse, etc…).

Second half of the session will be a prototyping and ideation exercise~ Bring your project, or use a provided prompt. We’ll go through a low-fi prototype methodology to explore ergonomics, layout, and structure that will help inform form & function of your project.
(If ur calling in- please have some paper, tape, cardboard, xacto handy)

This workshop will be focussed on design & ideation. I’ll share my process and tools- but it’s meant to pair nicely with other folx hosting workshops on that are specific to 3D Modeling, 3D Printing, etc…!
