Colors are really fun to play with in code, but it can be challenging to program them to do what you want. Knowing a little background can go a long way. We’ll go from wavelengths, to perception, to how computers represent color. We'll talk about generating your own palettes and color ramps.
This presentation won’t expect you to know about a specific tool, and is transferable to whatever you work in on the computer. It will draw from things I’ve learned while working with computational art/shaders as well as trying to understand colors in the natural world.
For some parts of the presentation, it would be useful to have polarized sunglasses and a smartphone or laptop.
(fyi, this is approximately the same as my ITP workshop in 2024!)
