Wearable Tech Design
Session Leaders: Teresa Lamb
Created By: Teresa Lamb
What does it mean to place electronics on the body? In this class we will talk about the design challenges of wearable technology - flexibility, size, placement, power, etc. We will look at microcontrollers, sensors, tools, and materials for prototyping, and where to find them. We will explore many examples of wearables projects, and discuss the current state of consumer products and what innovations may disrupt it.
The second half of the class will be devoted to ideation. We will discuss how to turn an idea into a meaningful experience. You will have the chance to develop a concept, build a “paper prototype”, and discuss next steps for bringing a project to life.
