The Neural Aesthetic

This is a (very) broad overview of machine learning for the arts. Mostly lecture-based with interspersed demos, the aim is to

1) Describe from the ground up how neural networks work -- convolutional and recurrent neural networks particularly 2) Show artistic applications of said neural networks 3) a survey of current events, trends, outstanding questions, and contemporary ethical dilemmas associated with the field and AI more generally

I will also present various applications, code samples, and resources for using this stuff in your own work. Not enough time to go into implementation details, but should give the intrepid student an idea of where to start using practically for their own purposes.
