Roll Your Own MFA
In this session we will discuss pursuing education in the arts & technology space through workshops, small programs, tiny schools, summer camps, conferences, incubators, and other part time & short-term opportunities.
For many people professional degrees are out of reach for time, financial, or other practical/personal reasons. However there are many different ways to pursue learning in the arts & technology space outside of degree programs.
In this session I will give a short introduction to the idea of à la carte education and building a school for yourself. I will talk a bit about my own attempts at achieving a self-education comparable to an MFA including some tips & tricks.
Later in the session we will build a course catalog together for a virtual school starting from a base list of educational opportunities and experiences. Participants can add other programs, opportunities, books, movies, and ideas to the list. We will then discuss some of these options and consider how you can put pieces from the catalog together to make your own educational program.
This session is for people who are interested in pursuing further education at the intersection of the arts & technology. Many of the lessons are generally applicable to other areas of self-teaching.

Sorry I can\'t be there today, I hope that you\'ll post resources online. If you don\'t know about it, you might want to look at http://www.kaospilot.dk/. They have a great program in Denmark.
