Music for Non-Musicians
Music is the secret ingredient that shapes the way we feel about our experiences, from film scores and immersive game soundtracks to the background music in the grocery store. Original music can turn good projects (videos, games, web experiences, live installations, etc.) into great projects, and creating your own music gives you control over the emotional tenor of your work. It can also just be a nice way to unwind after a long day at work.
This class demystifies digital music production, covering basics and best practices with a combination of freeware and web audio tools to create professional-grade work on no budget. Beyond basic computer literacy (web-browsing, downloading files, installing software, etc), no prior knowledge is assumed; and while the class is specifically geared toward students with no musical background, trained musicians and seasoned producers will also walk away with a few new tricks and resources.
