Learn to Play Go / Baduk / Weiqi
Go is an abstract strategy board game for two players, in which the aim is to surround more territory than the opponent. The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is believed to be the oldest board game continuously played to the present day.
For years, Go was one of the few remaining games where humans could beat computers. Then, in 2016, DeepMind released AlphaGo, which won 4 out of 5 matches with former world champion Lee Sedol.
In this session, aimed at beginners, you'll learn to play Go, as well as some of the basic strategies. Please bring a laptop / tablet, as we will be playing using some of the online game engines since we don't have boards for everyone.
If you're a more experienced player and would like to help run the workshop, please reach out!
