Documentation can serve a lot of different purposes - as a tool for reflection, as proof of work or archive, as a DIY or open source manual for others. From sketching to field notes to publication, there are many different methods for comprehensively documenting a project. And this conversation becomes much more complex when we consider the vast number of tools at our disposal, when we're required to document a variety of sources (hardware, software, design files...), or when we need to collaborate with others in this process.
This session is less of a documentation how-to and more of a high-level discussion about the role of documentation within a creative practice. How do you document your work? Who is it for? What tools do you use? What barriers have you encountered? What will happen to the records in 5 or 10 years?
I hope that we can gather a diverse group of creators in an open conversation about their experience with documentation from diverse perspectives and disciplines.
