Max/MSP/Jitter is a great tool for manipulating video in live performances and installations, but most of the Jitter objects run on the CPU, and as you start to build more complex patches, you may run into issues with low frame rates.
In this workshop, I'll show you how to use GLSL shaders in Jitter to process video on your computer's GPU, which will allow you to use more technically ambitious video effects in real-time.
I'll also demonstrate how to incorporate OpenGL-based 3D graphics into your Jitter patches, including primitive shapes, lighting, and 3D models.
You should bring a computer that has Max 7 installed so that you can patch along with me and try out code examples. Max can be downloaded with a 30-day trial license at cycling47.com, and there are also ER laptops with copies of Max installed.
All of the Max patches that we'll make in this workshop can be found on GitHub: https://github.com/oshoham/itp-camp-2018-shaders-opengl-jitter-workshop
