3D Print the World!

The 3D printing hype is over and all that's left is a powerful tool to bring ideas and solutions into being, if used properly. Knowing how to use a 3D printer is a valuable skill, both for your time at the Camp and in life!

Most of the confusion around 3D printing can be cleared up by knowing how it works and how should you approach a 3D model with 3D Printing in mind. In this course we will learn about various 3D printers and how they are made and function. Then we will focus on the very common "Fused Filament Fabrication" or FFF 3D Printers (Ultimaker, Lulzbot, etc), the different materials you can use to print your models, and common practices and pitfalls of the FFF method.

We will teach you how to prepare your models for printing in a Slicer program and important settings you have to adjust for each print. We won't go into the 3D modeling world, but we go in details of what makes a model "printable", and how to modify models in Autodesk Meshmixer to ensure a successful print.
