2-pop is a term for a 1 kHz (1000 Hz) tone that lasts 1 frame inserted 2 seconds before the start of the program. Initially, it was established by SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) as the standard for projection and broadcast, but it's still widely used in the digital age to ensure accurate synchronization of image and sound.
In this session we will think about the different approaches to sound design for the moving image/time based media.
Do you believe that sound is half the picture?
People are welcome to bring examples and work/works in progress to screen!
