[CANCELLATION NOTE] Due to some malfunctioning technology I haven't been able to get into my apartment as of last night and can't grab the materials I prepared for this session. Will see if I can reschedule it, but for now I have to cancel.
"Where Does Anxiety Live in the Body?" is a soft data visualization I created last semester and shared at the ITP Spring Show.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS A SEVEN DAY OBSERVATION EXERCISE THAT ACCOMPANIES THIS WORKSHOP THAT I WILL SEND OUT IN ADVANCE TO THOSE THAT HAVE RSVP'D BY JUNE 13th
I spent 32 days documenting how anxiety physically manifested in my body and then converted these notes into a series of collages. Each one represents one day. This was an exercise in noticing, first noticing how anxiety manifests for me physically and then going back and noticing patterns that I may not have taken into account in the moment.
In this workshop we will explore the importance of soft data in communicating experience in relation to mental health and chronic illness, look at some other artists who work with soft data, and then make our own collages based on what we recorded over the last week.
