This session explores the recent work and thesis project of a recent graduate from ITP through an artist talk and group discussion. The graduate will showcase her masters thesis, The Body as Archive, in which she investigates how images of ourselves and others inform our sense of self. For the thesis, she fused old family photographs, vintage print magazines, and original 35mm photography using digital processes to produce a 179-page artist book. The book’s text is comprised of interviews with the women in her family, as well as AI generated text to speak to both a personal perspective as well as perspectives on femininity in the popular imagination, reflected back to us through the technologies we use.
