When designing human computer interactions, it's important to consider how humans make errors beyond notions of usability, accessibility, and performance.

This session introduces some ways how humans are prone to think, feel, behave. How do we make decisions -- before, during, or after interacting with the interface? What makes us susceptible to certain design patterns? What would an interface which considers individual and social interactions look like?

This sharing session borrows concepts from human psychology, behavioural science, and design to uncover heuristics and biases in design patterns. Participants will hopefully get a better understanding of how to better think and design interactions for/ against humans.

If there is time we will identify some websites, go into pairs, and design truly "light" and "dark" patterns.

  • no coding experience needed. Come with all your biases and errors.
