THIS SESSION WILL BE HELD AT NYU TANDON MAKERSPACE 6 MetroTech Ctr, 1st Floor It is right across Jay Street (entrance to the left of the Starbucks), but you must have your NYU affiliate ID and leave yourself about 10 minutes to get there and find it. Once you pass security in 6 MetroTech, it is straight through the double doorway, and then the Makerspace is on the right (across from the cafeteria).

Since it will also be our first time as a Camp group in the NYU Makerspace, and to accommodate a lot of folks using one small vacuform machine and blender, we'll alternate groups touring the space/equipment, which you are free to use during Camp after you get safety training,

This is a hands-on workshop where we will use shop equipment to upcycle clamshell plastic food containers and paper egg cartons into 3D objects. The work flow will take digital fabrication produced objects (3D prints, laser cut shapes, and CNC routed items), make molds on the vacuform machine, and then cast paper sculptures.

This is part of an ongoing exploration of trying to make the eco-friendly choice also the aesthetically appealing choice for imagining new futures. If you have clamshell plastics (e.g. salad mix containers, takeout deli containers, or Costco pastry boxes) in larger than 5" or extra pulp paper packaging (e.g. egg cartons, coffee carriers), please bring them along.
