Off Broadway play features actors with disabilities

This info was forwarded to me from a Brain Injury Org. Consider attending the performance…

I wanted to make you aware of an amazing play that will be showcased in New York off-Broadway in November.  You can click on the link below to see the particulars….but here’s the gist.  It is the true story of a family of entertainers with dwarfism who were experimented on by Josef Mengele in the Nazi concentration camps.  The entire family survived and the story is remarkable.

The real reason I am alerting you to this — and hope you will let your New York affiliates know so they might attend: This is probably the first time an entire play has been cast with only individuals with disabilities (other than troupes specifically for individuals with disabilities). The playwright reports how distressing it was to get many resumes from little people that were filled with circus performances and other “freak” events, and how difficult it is for them to find legitimate theater opportunities.

The play was originally produced at Northwestern University when the playwright was a student there.  It received rave reviews in Chicago…and am assuming it will, also, in New York.  I know the playwright very well, so if you have any questions, just let me know.  I’ll be there for opening night!
