Come make bio yarn and inspire your final projects! Led by Rae Yuping Hsu, a research-based and materially-informed artist working with biomaterials. In this session, we will learn to create bio yarn from alginate, an edible natural polymer found in seaweed. After a whole hour of knitting, we’ll stitch together our patches to create an algae quilt. All materials will be provided so just come with your curious mind 🙂 This workshop is presented by Tisch’s ITP/IMA Material Kitchen.

We had 12 participants (full!) from NYU, Cooper Union, and Pratt, and their backgrounds ranged from Tisch, Tandon, Biology, Liberal studies, Architecture, Industrial Design, and more. The participants included faculty members, a PhD student, graduate students, and undergraduate students. We had a truly diverse group of participants, which I initially imagined and wished to have—library as the interdisciplinary hub of knowledge sharing!
