Yes, the rumors are true, Material Kitchen has gone international! On May 31, 2025 we presented our newest workshop Touchy Feely Algae at the Open Hardware Summit at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

In this workshop, participants got to explore a variety of conductive agar-based bioplastics Material Kitchen have been developing as part of research funded by the Collaborative Impact Grant provided by Tisch Creative Research.

Participants were given kits of material swatches and electrical components and were able to light up LEDs with these biomaterials as part of the circuit! Also, participants shared lot of great feedback on the materials themselves and possible applications.
