The alternatives include off-the-shelf options (green vendors) for <a href=\"https:\/\/pryme-cleantech.com\/chemical-recycling#:~:text=With%20chemical%20recycling%2C%20plastic%20waste,applications%20such%20as%20food%20packaging.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chemically Recycled Materials<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.preciousplastic.com\/universe\/how-does-it-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mechanically Recycled Materials<\/a> that are produced through processes like shredding+compressing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The alternatives include off-the-shelf options for materials that have been certified as sustainable through industry standards or are already recycled.<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-page-list\"><li class=\"wp-block-pages-list__item\"><a class=\"wp-block-pages-list__item__link\" href=\"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/courses\/material\/sustainable-choices\/acrylic-alternatives\/\">Acrylic: Off-the-shelf alternatives<\/a><\/li><li class=\"wp-block-pages-list__item\"><a class=\"wp-block-pages-list__item__link\" href=\"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/courses\/material\/sustainable-choices\/plywood-alternatives\/\">Plywood: Off-the-shelf alternatives<\/a><\/li><li class=\"wp-block-pages-list__item\"><a class=\"wp-block-pages-list__item__link\" href=\"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/courses\/material\/sustainable-choices\/other-material-alternatives\/\">Other Material Alternatives<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>As seen on the graph below, these are options that take relatively low effort and time on your side, and the results will be more controllable (compared to other options such as <a href=\"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/groups\/material\/diy-biomaterials\/\">DIY Biomaterials<\/a>) since these alternatives have similar properties as the virgin materials that you&#8217;re familiar with.
