Audrey Alexander (IMA \u201826) was featured in Washington Square News for her curatorial contributions to \u201cWoody Guthrie: What This Guitar Might Do\u201d, a new exhibit at the Clive Davis Gallery.<\/p>\n

\u201cLocated inside the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, the exhibition is curated by a group of students who worked under the direction of Gallatin professor Keith Miller as part of NYU\u2019s new Arts & Impact Initiative. The students \u2014 Audrey Alexander, William Bigby, Bea Esteves Mendez and Ava Noland \u2014 also collaborated with Anna Canoni, Guthrie\u2019s granddaughter and the current president of Woody Guthrie Publications.<\/p>\n

The curatorial choices made by the students \u2014 from the flower-patterned wallpaper to the optimistic poetry \u2014 reflect Guthrie\u2019s uplifting messages to a discouraged audience. It\u2019s a reminder that young people are capable of creating change and accessing hope through inclusivity, which is an important note during an era of growing isolation and disconnection.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWoody Guthrie: What This Guitar Might Do\u201d is up at the Clive Davis Gallery at 370 Jay St. until May 15.<\/p>\n
