It&#8217;s an expansive collection of research and fun facts\u2014from fishes to futures\u2014about the 400 agents who appear in the animated work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/tisch.nyu.edu\/content\/dam\/tisch\/itp\/NewsEvents\/2024-2025\/zurkow_3.jpg\" alt=\"The Earth Eaters, 2025 and Mesocosm (Wink, TX), 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<h3>The Earth Eaters, 2025 and Mesocosm (Wink, TX), 2012<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The animations&nbsp;<i>The Earth Eaters<\/i>&nbsp;(2025) and&nbsp;<i>Mesocosm (Wink, TX)<\/i>&nbsp;(2012) explore complex social and ecological systems that emerge from the ongoing extraction of raw materials. Each work serves as an algorithmic dreamscape, where recursive loops unfold across various time scales.&nbsp;<i>The Earth Eaters<\/i>&nbsp;draws from 16th-century manuscripts: Georgius Agricola\u2019s&nbsp;<i>De Re Metallica<\/i>&nbsp;and Conrad Gessner\u2019s&nbsp;<i>Historia Animalium<\/i>.
