The show one thing show feedback experience for my thesis was great!

I spoke with three wonderful critics: Anna Greenspan, Nathier Fernandez, and Dana Elkis. After meeting with everyone, they all said the same thing about my thesis project — that I need to be more specific and narrow with my focus.

When meeting with them, my most important takeaway was that the subject of my project is too general. According to them, it would be better for me to focus on one specific problem, subject, or community.

Dana gave examples of apps like Citizen in NYC where residents can report crimes to help their community. Nathier explained how there are different communities on TikTok where people are sharing about their culture, ideas, problems etc.

While speaking to Dana the idea of a new person coming into a neighborhood or a city came up. She mentioned it may be harder to get someone who already lives in an area to use an app and easier for someone who doesn’t live there. It reminded me of one of my initial purposes for the app was for travelers.

Now I am considering exploring this idea/focus for my project more. I still like the idea of it being for breaking news. But I think it being for someone who is just entering a community is a great idea because I feel like I do a lot of research before I go to a new place but if I had an app that already had the research done for me that would be a lot easier and less of a burden.

I still like the idea of breaking news because I feel like what I was doing for my job should be easier and there should be a space for it especially because many news outlets are doing the same thing. Maybe if it was more focused like for if you see a cop approaching a citizen in an aggressive manner or you see someone doing something they shouldnt be you can record it and upload it straight to media?

Not sure just using the space to brainstorm… I am still thinking. But the feedback has put me on a new direction and focus.
