Week 2 and 3: Cornell Box & Experiment
These two weeks I used the brain warming method and came up with the experiment I want to do very efficiently. When I used brainstorming before, I often got stuck in one place without inspiration. But using brain swarming is different. It can help me to constantly diverge my thinking, and then find a suitable combination point. It is a very efficient tool.
The picture below is my corner box. I have collected a series of items and experiences that usually make me feel glad or happy emotionally. For example, the video game that young people often play is really a very decompressive way, because you can feel the sense of accomplishment very easily. I also put on a small radio, playing a piece of relaxing and soothing music every morning or before going to bed, which is also very calming. There are also some foods, such as candy or chocolate, which can also make people feel happy. In terms of smell, I chose aromatherapy and petals. Natural floral scent can make people feel relaxed and optimistic. Aromatherapy actually imitates this natural taste to some extent. Now there is much functional aromatherapy, such as lavender can help sleep. I also chose some physical toys, such as origami, and splicing small houses. Those are actually related to our hobbies, and we feel happy when we do what we like or are good at. In fact, when I organize these things, I also feel very calm and happy. This may be the genes of the farming society that survived the ancients. It means women ensure survival and reproduction by hoarding food.
The experiment I have done is take photos of how young people (Generally around 18 and 25) enjoy the city. The most common way to decompress is to go shopping and chat with friends or watch a movie together. Some people choose to go to a very expensive restaurant that they want to eat for a long time. There are actually a lot of art exhibitions in Shanghai, and some people like to participate in such art exhibitions, and the aesthetic enjoyment makes them glad. There are also some people who choose to sing. This kind of vocal catharsis also makes them feel happy and relaxed.
