Thesis Journal WEEK3
This video is one the visual representation I made for the anti-child verbal abuse project. On this stage, I focused more on let adults know what will they become if they had experienced verbal abuse during their childhood. The mirror can generate a fake “you” which is influenced by verbal abuse. I think by letting audiences experiencing themselves, it can have greater impact.
Three Person to focus:
James Clear
James Clear is a writer and speaker focused on habits, decision making, and continuous improvement. He is the author of the no. 1 New York Times bestseller, Atomic Habits. The book has sold over 5 million copies worldwide and has been translated into more than 50 languages. Yuchen recommend his book to me during discussion in class. I think his book about the habits can help understand better why parents prefer strict and “force” education with verbal abuse, and why it always have a bad influence on kids, and how it can be changed.
Prof. Sam Richards

Dr. Samuel Richards is an award winning teacher and sociologist at Penn State University and the instructor of the largest race, gender and cultural relations course in the United States. With over 760 students each semester and a twenty-five-year legacy, that course was the subject of an Emmy Award winning television broadcast called, “You Can’t Say That.” The course is currently streamed live to the world every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at http://www.soc119.org. Sam’s willingness to take risks and push new ideas is what led him to be named one of the “101 most dangerous professors in America.” I’ve taken Sam’s class and known he well personally, I believe his experience and knowledge in sociology can help understand verbal abuse problem in a bigger picture, and how I can influence or even change it in a larger scale.
Team Lab
https://www.teamlab.art/about/
TeamLab (f. 2001) is an international art collective, an interdisciplinary group of various specialists such as artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians and architects whose collaborative practice seeks to navigate the confluence of art, science, technology, and the natural world. One of my ideas is to create a immersive space for my topic, and Team Lab is one the best in the world. They also have a exhibition place in Shanghai. I think I can learn something from them.

What type of audiences do you want to involve? If they are parents who has kids, I wonder how you will design the experience to let your target user empathy their kids? What’s the ideal feeling of the user you are imaging?
Will you show them the most common abusing content? or Do you want to emphasis something uncommon? Is the experience two-way interaction or one way?
