Thesis week 4 –Shaun Zhou
This week I was still thinking about the direction of my dissertation, so I did not delve into the topic of calligraphy. I kept asking myself, do I want to express calligraphy itself or use calligraphy to express some ideas and convey some realistic topics? In fact, in the last critical experience class, my final theme was also about calligraphy. I discussed calligraphy itself, the significance of calligraphy to contemporary society and Chinese education, the benefits of calligraphy to the human body, and whether calligraphy can be used like Indian yoga. It is accepted by people all over the world, so this time I hope to use calligraphy as a carrier to express some real problems, such as cyber violence. Recently, there have been many cases of cyber violence causing suicide in China. I want to use calligraphy to express some kind of anger and helplessness, as well as cyber violence, will bring indelible damage to the parties.
