Week 3- Yuchen Li
This is the mood board I made for my thesis. I rank each application open page from clean to not clean. From left to right is the color usage and icon usage. From top to down is the cleanness.
These are just some of the applications I use daily, and games are more complicated to compare because games have in-game UI and client UI.

Here is the link to my academic paper research. I also make a system map based on it. I hope I could find more in Chinese contexts, but now most of them are other areas examples. Some of them are very worth reading.

Here is a paper discussing game localization in the Arabic area. The author discussed some issues addressing UI in games caused by game localization. Also, he talks a little bit about cultural dissonance, which the Arabic area banned many games because of their culture and religion.
Dream Review: This is very challenging for me, cuz I never read a professional comment or criticism. I don’t know the general tone of it.
This project mimicked the phenomena of tricky UIs and complicated UIs in our life. Even though applications were designed for people to make life easier, these UIs are trying to trap users into advertisements and force them to receive commercial information when they are using the applications. While people are discussing the art position of games, companies are trying to make games into a tool to just earn money. The designer scoped this future and recreated it in her project. A UI is working for users to understand the applications, it is not a tool to trap users. She did a great job to clarify her intention!
