Week 4 – Dream Review
The beauty in what Beth Fileti has created has to rely on one’s imaginative strength. Describing the work as simply temporary belies the remarkable act of intentional self-implosion that Mrs. Fileti has created. The work in its most fully realized form no longer exists. As a society we continue to explore questions of facial identity, personal autonomy, and politicized speech. In her work, Mrs. Fileti cuts through the many larger questions by revealing a situation in a specifically personal narrative. Her work is defined by an empathetic curiosity that is the hidden motor behind an unusual collection of data investigation, journalistic research, and narrative threads.
