Week2-A game UI research and game localization research.
So, I think my topic is basically the combination of game localization and game UI. Here are some awesome groups doing the game localization.
- One of the case studies is a Chinese game called Naruto Online, and they translate it into Russian. They need to redesign the in-game UI, market, and updates. It is a clear blog post about what they did to localize the game.
- Here is another group for game localization. I’ve read several of their blog posts, and the one that talks about the Chinese market is quite interesting and not all correct.
-
Dustin Tyler
- He is not a professional game developer, but he does write some good articles about game UIs.

- Desi Quintans
- He is a game developer and writes articles about making games. I’ve read his articles about good UIs and bad ones. He also talks about games on different platforms caused UI problems.

- Nielsen Norman Group
- I think this one is very popular. This was founded in 1998 by Jakob Nielsen and Don Norman. Don Norman has published a book called The Design of Everyday Things. I have read several chapters in previous classes.
The experimental project I’ve done is a game. It actually comes from a game I play daily. However, it has advertisements from the start. Here is the Figma link.
The visual representation is an exhausted strawberry sitting in front of the desktop. I love strawberries, and I am exhaustedly sitting in front of my desktop.

This is great work! And I really love that you have already started the creation process. Something I have been thinking about concerning your project is what do you want to say about bad games? Do you want to create satire about the industry? Do you disagree with the current trends? What makes a good game different from a bad game? I want to know more about your thoughts and I think it will help you shape this idea into a thesis!
Based on our discussion on WeChat, I understood that you dislike some bad unfair mechanism or UI and experience in some game interrupting game experience and push/force users to purchase object. I could see a lots of potential great outcome of this interesting topics, and I am wondering:
Do you want to show how hard you are trying to solve these problems, if so, what are you trying to solve?
Do you want to make a speculative narrative about how a good ideal game could be in the future or why a perfect game experience is impossible in some specific context?
