Job Description
<\/b>=95 Work with Avaaz team to de=
\nvelop and implement the strategic direction of the Avaaz
website, email, =
\nand other online tools
=95 Design high quality and high performance softw=
\nare
\n=95 Oversee all phases of product development from creation and review of f=
\nunctional
specifications through final design, and oversight of all devel=
\nopment activities
=95 Manage development team's daily activities by l=
\neading architecture decisions,
\nparticipating in designs, design review, code review, and implementation in=
\n a hands-on
environment
=95 Maintain current technical knowledge to su=
\npport rapidly changing technology, discover
new technologies, work with m=
\nanagement and development teams to implement new
\ntechnologies
=95 Understand and communicate the business value of archit=
\necture components to senior
management team
=95 Oversee all efforts to=
\n ensure the security of the Avaaz website and database.
=95 Work to ensur=
\ne the maximum deliverability of Avaaz emails, including through

Location<\/b>
Avaaz is a virtual organization, with most of our work d=
\none over email, telephone, skype and
video calling. We have global team r=
\netreats three times per year. Our staff =96 a small team of less
than 20 =
\n– are currently based in Rio de Janeiro, New York, Paris, Geneva, Buenos Air=
\nes, and
\nLondon. Team members are free to work from anywhere in the world, a unique =
\nand major
advantage for this job. Avaaz covers office costs, either to es=
\ntablish a home office or to rent one,
and we support staff to house thems=
\nelves in large partner organizations of Avaaz (such as Oxfam)
\nwhen preferred.<\/p>\n
Compensation and Benefits<\/b>
Salary varies wi=
\nth location and experience, but is highly competitive with leading non-profi=
\nt
organizations. Benefits also range with location, but include 4 weeks p=
\naid vacation per year. The
\ncontract is for one year, with the strong expectation that a successful yea=
\nr will lead to a longer
