Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT<\/strong> is a joint research institute of\u00a0Aalto University<\/a> and the\u00a0University of Helsinki<\/a> for basic and applied research on information technology (http:\/\/www.hiit.fi\/<\/a>). A new research group Social Interaction and Emotion in the Network Society research programme will focus on the social psychological aspects of information and communication technologies (ICT).<\/p>\n

We are looking for a\u00a0POSTDOC RESEARCHER <\/strong>in the area of<\/div>\n
ICT-MEDIATED SOCIAL INTERACTION<\/strong><\/div>\n
for a three-year period.<\/div>\n
The research of the group focuses, for example, on the emotional and cognitive processes during mediated social interaction.\u00a0The research supports the creation of ICT that is optimal from the perspective\u00a0of human emotional and cognitive processes and social interaction. Methodological approaches include alsopsychophysiological recordings (e.g., EEG, facial EMG).<\/div>\n
The tasks of the Postdoc researcher include carrying out state-of-the-art academic research\u00a0with the best possible collaborators, reasonable freedom, and opportunities for a high impact. We strongly favor inter-group and interdisciplinary interaction.\u00a0The researcher is also expected to participate in the preparation of new research projects.<\/div>\n
We appreciate the following characteristics:<\/div>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Appropriate education (PhD in computer or information science, social psychology, psychology, cognitive science, or a closely related field)<\/div>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Proactive approach to work<\/a><\/div>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ability to co-operate in a multidisciplinary research team and with partners of international projects<\/div>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Solid experience in research work as witnessed by international peer-reviewed publications<\/div>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Expertise with psychophysiological methods (e.g., facial EMG, EEG) is an advantage, but not a prerequisite<\/div>\n
