Tectonic Theater Project (The Laramie Project, Gross Indecency, 33 Variations)
\nis seeking an intern to work on a new piece of theatre about Autism Spectrum
\nDisorder called Square Peg Round Hole. The intern will work along side
\ncompany member, Andy Paris, in creating this piece. The internship will last
\napproximately the length of the school year and the time commitment will be on
\nan as-needed basis. The Intern should possess strong organizational
\nskills and experience with computer programs such as Power Point. Square Peg
\nwill have a heavy technical component so any other computer skills, such as
\nprogramming, would be a plus. Duties will include research, organization of data,
\nvideo and sound, as well as general computer support. A short description of the
\nproject follows:<\/p>\n
Square Peg Round Hole is a theatrical exploration of the Autistic mind, which
\nwill reach across mental, social and ethnic divides. What is the Autistic social
\nconstruct? Is Autism a disorder in search of a cure, or is it an evolutionary
\nnecessity that will allow us to continue to adapt as a species? Our understanding
\nof Autism as a nation will acutely impact the raising of a generation. Using
\ntechnology and explorations of theatrical form, using personal narratives
\nand scientific data, all within an historical context, The Spectrum Project will
\ninvestigate what it means to live in a world outside the bounds of \u2018normal.\u2019<\/p>\n
