The SMC Summer School, which takes place just before the<\/div>\n<div>conference, aims at giving\u00a0young researchers the\u00a0opportunity to<\/div>\n<div>interactively learn about core\u00a0topics\u00a0in this\u00a0interdisciplinary\u00a0field from experts,<\/div>\n<div>and to build a network of international contacts.<\/div>\n<div>The specific theme of SMC 2012 is &#8220;Illusions&#8221;, and<\/div>\n<div>that of the SMC Summer School is &#8220;Multimodality&#8221;.<\/div>\n<div>================Important dates=================<\/div>\n<div>Deadline for submissions of music and sound installations: Friday, February 3, 2012<\/div>\n<div>Deadline for paper submissions: Monday 2 April, 2012<\/div>\n<div>Notification of music acceptances: Friday, March 16, 2012<\/div>\n<div>Deadline for applications to the Summer School: Friday March 30, 2012<\/div>\n<div>Notification of acceptance to Summer School: Monday April 16, 2012<\/div>\n<div>Deadline for submission of final music and sound installation materials: Friday, April 27, 2012<\/div>\n<div>Notification of paper acceptances:\u00a0Wednesday 2 May, 2012<\/div>\n<div>Deadline for submission of camera-ready papers:\u00a0Monday 4 June, 2012<\/div>\n<div>SMC Summer School:\u00a0Sunday 8 \u2013 Wednesday morning 11 July, 2012<\/div>\n<div>SMC Workshops:\u00a0Wednesday afternoon 11 July, 2012<\/div>\n<div>SMC 2011:\u00a0Thursday 12 \u2013 Saturday 14 July, 2012<\/div>\n<div>===========================================<\/div>\n<div>SMC2012 will cover topics that lie at the core of the Sound and Music Computing research and creative exploration.<\/div>\n<div>We broadly group these into:<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; processing sound and music data<\/div>\n<div>&#8211;\u00a0modeling and\u00a0understanding sound and music\u00a0data<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; interfaces for sound and music\u00a0creation<\/div>\n<div>-music creation and performance with established and novel hardware and software technologies<\/div>\n<div>================Call for papers==================<\/div>\n<div>SMC 2012 will include paper presentations as both lectures and poster\/<\/div>\n<div>demos. We invite submissions examining all the core areas of the Sound<\/div>\n<div>and Music Computing field. Submission related to the theme &#8220;Illusions&#8221; are especially encouraged.<\/div>\n<div>All submissions will be peer-reviewed according to their novelty, technical content, presentation, and<\/div>\n<div>contribution to the overall balance of topics represented at the<\/div>\n<div>conference. Paper submissions should have a maximum of 8 pages<\/div>\n<div>including figures and references, and a length of 6 pages is strongly<\/div>\n<div>encouraged. Accepted papers will be designated to be presented either<\/div>\n<div>as posters\/demos or as lectures. We invite submissions of original compositions created for acoustic instruments and electronics, novel instruments and interfaces, music robots, and speakers as sound objects. Submissions of sound installation are also encouraged.
