We are NYFA-sponsored,  not-for-profit literary arts organization based in Brooklyn and Dakar,  Senegal.<\/p>\n<p>All the best,<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\nAdam Wiedewitsch<br \/>\nCoordinating Editor<br \/>\nPirogue  Collective<br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:adam@piroguecollective.org\" target=\"_blank\">adam@piroguecollective.org<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"tel:347.240.7912\" target=\"_blank\">347.240.7912<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.piroguecollective.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.piroguecollective.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Publications  Internship\/Graphic Design<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Full Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Publications graphic design\u00a0intern will assist the Editorial staff with the design content of Island Position publications: <em>Imagine Africa, Tongue: A Journal of  Writing &amp; Art, <\/em>and <em>The Pirogue African Poets Series.<\/em> This position is upaid.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The selected graphic design intern assist with the design and execution of a  range of printed materials.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Execute the design  of print publications,      including ads, coupons, fliers, newsletters, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Update and  maintain <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/piroguecollective.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">piroguecollective.org<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tongueoftheworld.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">tongueoftheworld.org<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Assist in concept  development and arrive at      creative solutions that meet the Collective&#8217;s brand standards and      guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Respond to general  requests\u2014such as locating and      resizing images\u2014in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<li>Join the Editorial  team for meetings and special      events.<\/li>\n<li>Complete special  projects as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have working  knowledge of Photoshop CS2,      Quark, InDesign CS2, and Illustrator CS2.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to  operate within Microsoft Office      systems.<\/li>\n<li>Must be proficient  with the Macintosh platform.<\/li>\n<li>Must be  self-motivated and have sharp attention      to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, a      flexible and creative personality, and the ability to manage  multiple      projects.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to  commit 10 hours per week to      Island Position tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Preference is  given to juniors and seniors, but      experience and talent are trump cards.<\/li>\n<li>Open to  undergraduate students pursuing a degree      in graphic design or related field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A complete  application includes contact information, resume with two references listed, and two  to three samples of work or a link to an online portfolio.
