Mark Gorton, entrepreneur and founder of Tower Research Capital LLC, OpenPlans, and LimeWire LLC, is launching a new venture focused on significant aspects of American history in the 1950s, \u201860s, and \u201870s that are not well understood by the public. This project has the potential to change the way American history is perceived and taught by future generations. The goals of the venture are to bring together disparate facts and people through the Internet and then to leverage this new resource in the pursuit of business opportunities. The first steps will be collating information from a wide variety of sources, ranging from the web to printed text, into a website and building a community of researchers to make productive use of this web tool.<\/p>\n
The Project Manager will work closely with Mark to specify and guide the development of this website. The position encompasses project management, web interface design, and information science, and it requires a candidate with strong communication, organization, and management skills to execute the project. Ultimately, there may be opportunities to translate the ideas from the site into more traditional media ventures, so the ideal candidate will be enterprising enough to identify and pursue a variety of business opportunities over time.
\nRESPONSIBILITIES
\n\u2022 Specifying and helping to create a website with an intuitive interface to serve as an organized, centralized resource for information concerning aspects of 1950s, \u201860s, and \u201870s American history
\n\u2022 Building and mobilizing a team to aggregate information from a disparate array of existing websites, books, and other resources for the site
\n\u2022 Facilitating the creation of an online community to aid the site\u2019s growth
\n\u2022 Identifying and pursuing opportunities in traditional media based on ideas arising from the site
\nQUALIFICATIONS
\n\u2022 Strong educational background
\n\u2022 Demonstrated aptitude for managing demanding projects and bringing them to completion
\n\u2022 Familiarity with a variety of web and computer technologies
\n\u2022 Strong written and spoken communication skills
\n\u2022 Strong research skills
\n\u2022 Experience with software or web development and user interface design (a plus)
\n\u2022 Experience in media production (a plus)
\n\u2022 Interest and conversance in American history of the 1950s, \u201860s, and \u201870s
\n\u2022 An entrepreneurial spirit
\n\u2022 The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and adapt to numerous, rapidly shifting challenges
