The studio pursues a variety of practice-based research projects with EU, Council and industry sponsorship. This research associate role is linked to 3-year project, directed by Professor Mike Michael of Sociology. Initiated by the RCUK\u00a0Energy Programme the project is investigating the co-design of technologies relating to energy demand reduction within communities. You will play a key role in devising and implementing the\u00a0technical infrastructure for design prototypes and systems, and support the deployment and initial field research of this platform. The role requires close collaboration with a team of designers and as\u00a0such you should have relevant experience of, or a desire to work in a creative academic setting.<\/p>\n<p>You will have a first degree and postgraduate qualifications (or equivalent experience) in computer science or electrical engineering (or a related technical discipline). You should have excellent\u00a0interpersonal and communication skills. You will enjoy practice-based research and be passionate about exploring new social and cultural contexts for interactive technology. Excellent project\u00a0management skills are desirable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Department<\/strong><br \/>\nOver recent years there has been an increasingly energetic dialogue between Design and Social Science disciplines. Much of this dialogue has been aimed at enabling mutual understanding,\u00a0identifying shared intellectual interests, and exploring common frames of reference. The Centre for the Study of Invention and Social Process and the Interaction Research Studio are at the forefront\u00a0of these developments.<\/p>\n<p>This post will be located in the Interaction Research Studio. The studio pursues a variety of practice-based research projects with EU, Council and industry sponsorship.
