You&#8217;ll have the software engineering chops to write clean and well thought-out code, but you&#8217;ll also be passionate about usability and design for the web.<\/p>\n<p>You will take the lead role in maintaining and re-imagining the current HTML\/CSS and JavaScript code base for our website. You&#8217;ll be working closely with our information architect and our designers to turn mock-ups into working HTML\/CSS prototypes. The Front-End Developer will also be involved in content updates and general maintenance of the website.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean and elegant HTML and CSS<\/li>\n<li>Deep knowledge and understanding of JavaScript and jQuery<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience creating maintainable cross-browser code from lo-fi wire-frames<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with progressive enhancement techniques<\/li>\n<li>Experience with server side languages (we&#8217;re fond of Python)<\/li>\n<li>Experience with version control systems (like Subversion or git)<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable working in a *nix environment<\/li>\n<li>Aware of contemporary web performance techniques and analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*Plusses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with static site-generation tools such as webgen<\/li>\n<li>Experience with CSS frameworks (YUI grids, blueprint)<\/li>\n<li>Experience with dynamic stylesheets (we use LESS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More about us:<br \/>\nFreelancers Union is not your typical non-profit, and we look for not-your-typical employees.
