\nThe deadline for Music and Paper submissions is*February 15th, 2012*<\/p>\n
\nLjubljana, Slovenia. It is organized by IRZU – the Institute for Sonic
\nArts Research <http:\/\/www.irzu.org\/<\/a>> and supported by the Faculty of
\nComputer and Information Science as well as the Faculty of Arts,
\nUniversity of Ljubljana. The event will take place on *9-15 September
\n2012*.<\/p>\n
\nmusic, covering all aspects of technical, creative and aesthetic issues
\naround the use of computers in music. The theme of the 2012 conference
\nis *”Non-Cochlear Sound”*, which can be understood as an analogy to the
\nDuchampian notion of non-retinal art. The aim is to investigate the
\npotential of sound as a medium and further, the potentials of music in
\nconjunction with new technologies to create new possibilities of
\nartistic expression, which could create a closer relation to language
\nand consequentially, enable generation of meaning and production of
\nknowledge. Submissions emphasizing this theme are particularly welcomed
\nand, like in the recent years, ICMC 2012 will again include a piece plus
\npaper category in which it will be possible for such links to be made
\nexplicit. The conference will also be programmed to juxtapose paper
\nsessions on particular topics with concerts in which related ideas
\ninform musical works.<\/p>\n
