The intern would be the face for many interactions with the public and the City, and would help with the logistics of coordinating the installation. As our organization in NYC is small, the intern would be working alongside the regional coordinators in high-level activities such as writing press releases, organizing fundraising, creating educational material, representing the PPC at meetings, and helping us plan events. Other duties, such as leading his or her own initiatives, are possible commensurate with experience.<\/p>\n<p>He or she would work directly with the founders of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/trashpatch.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trashpatch.org<\/a>, a do-tank dedicated to raising awareness of\u00a0plasticpollution in the environment through art and design and with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/plasticpollutioncoalition.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Plastic\u00a0Pollution Coalition<\/a>, an global organization dedicated to fighting\u00a0plastic\u00a0pollution. This position will include interacting with heads of organizations as well as volunteers.<span> <\/span><br \/>\nThe\u00a0intern\u00a0will be able to work towards his or her strengths and any unique attributes he or she brings to the job; while many tasks are defined in advance, the position is also flexible to accommodate innovation. We are particularly interested in someone with webdesign and app creation skills.<\/p>\n<h4>Desirable Skills and Qualifications:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>experience, interest, or other commitment to the environment and social justice, especially\u00a0plastic\u00a0pollution;<\/li>\n<li>excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal;<\/li>\n<li>research and citation skills (beyond Internet research);<\/li>\n<li>social media skills;<\/li>\n<li>website development and design;<\/li>\n<li>other computer skills, including web research, word processing, presentation software, graphic design, video editing;<\/li>\n<li>resides in NYC or surrounding area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dates:<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0intern\u00a0would work through the Spring semester with possible extension to the summer, 5-10 hours a week. Start date is somewhat flexible.
